Receiving Mail using SMTP

WorkgroupMail can be configured to collect mail using SMTP rather than POP3 for a particular ISP. This can be done by double clicking on the relevant ISP and selecting the Mail is received from this ISP using SMTP radio button in the Servers page. When you do this, you will note that the Incoming Mail (POP3) field will be hidden, since it is no longer relevant.

When you have configured WorkgroupMail in this way, an SMTP server will be setup to listen on the external interface for new e-mail, either from your ISP or directly from the sender's ISP, if you host your own mail.

Note that you will not be able to make use of the Junk mail filtering or the maximum message size download option if you receive mail using SMTP, since both these features require POP3 in order to function.
